Track Of The Day: Gum – Anna Sang and Alison

Lo-fi shoegazers Gum have just unleashed the video for their track “Anna Sang & Alison”. If you liked yesterday’s Track Of The Day by Weekend then this London four piece are definitely for you. Their EP Seventeen is available on Tiny Lights here and is a sonic treat. They are part of an exciting scene with bands Tyrannosaurus Dead and 100th Anniversary who I posted about here. To me it feels like the UK band equivalent of New York’s Beast Coast rap scene.  Comrades and fans of each other’s music, the bands have also released a split tape; Guts and I was fortunate enough to see the three groups support the release live.

Gum are a phenomenal force live. Fun and very very loud. Could potentially be your new favourite band if you’re a fan of My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart or Weekend. They sound classic and fresh at the same time.
